Hello supporters,
The last time we updated you we shared the document that outlined the city’s lip-service intentions…
“The comments from stakeholders, including non-profit service providers, neighborhood associations, advocates for people experiencing homelessness, people with lived experience of being homeless, philanthropic entities, faith-based organizations, property and business owners, and other interested parties, will be forwarded for consideration by the interdisciplinary staff team and by the Council during future workshops.”
City hall has revealed that they don’t care about the public’s concerns. At this point in time they are preparing the Auburn Blvd building for the Hope cooperative nonprofit to move in and start the homeless shelter. Despite legitimate concerns voiced by the Childrens Receiving Home, major business stakeholders, city taxpayers, unincorporated county residents in Districts 1&3, county elected officials, law enforcement, park rangers, Neighborhood associations, investment property owners, homeless advocates, nature enthusiasts and preservation groups, and parents of children who attend nearby schools, and others- the city has refused to answer questions or update the public.
This sends a clear message: The Mayor and City Hall do not really care about the public’s concerns. They want to steamroll this project and are even ignoring the District 2 councilman Sean Loloee-and his wishes for how to handle things in the district he was elected to represent!!!
Make your voice heard. Go to SaveOurSuburb.org and contact the elected officials mentioned there.
If needed, we must be ready to start a lawsuit. We will keep everyone posted.
