Government announcing Gloucestershire future next week

Hello and thank you again for signing the petition to keep Gloucestershire as a single council area.

In a nutshell this is about whether Gloucestershire is  ONE Council or is divided into Two Councils. This is after the Government announced it was abolishing  separate district and county councils in favour of combined unitary councils.

Gloucestershire submitted 3 options and which ever  way Government decides, it’s a huge change! This is a BIG decision which will affect us for decades to come.

This week I attended the Local Government Association conference and heard from the Secretary of State and his under secretary. They both confirmed the decision will be announced next week so we will soon know what’s happening very soon . Thank you again for supporting the petition, I am hopeful it’ll be the right decision (although I’m personally sad to see districts going) so let’s keep fingers crossed for a positive decision and whatever is decided the signatories to this petition have done as much as you can so Thank you so much.
