Good Morning Gloucestershire,
The Government have finally launched their public consultation on planned changes for Gloucestershire.
As a quick reminder there are 3 options:
- Keep Gloucestershire together as a single unitary council for all services.
- Break Gloucestershire into East & West
- Separate Gloucester from the rest of the County “Greater Gloucester”.
The consultation is the only change we will have to truly tell the Government what the people and businesses of Gloucestershire want.
Even if you’ve never done a consultation before please give it a try. The key bit is that you get across why you want a United Gloucestershire.
Some points you may wish to make about the proposals to divide Gloucestershire are:
- Breaking up county services: Health and Social Care, Children’s Fostering, Public Transport, Highways and Fire & Rescue etc is unnecessary, disruptive and damaging.
- Costly and worse value for tax payers.
- Weakens Gloucestershires voice, (stronger together).
- Divisive and unfair, creating a postcode lottery for services and inequality baked in with a financial deficit from day one for the West.
- Confusing for residents and our businesses.
