Hello everyone
Wow. Just wow. 362 supporters (at time of writing). What an incredible number.
362 might not seem like a lot in some contexts - granules of sugar, perhaps - but in this situation, it's enormous. 362 people. Wow.
Chichester is one of the smallest universities in the United Kingdom but to see so many people quite rightly outraged is amazing. I was so worried that this would flunk and we wouldn't be able to show what a valued asset to the university our valued staff are.
Looking through the signatures, Dion, Hakim and the other staff in our department have had a worldwide impact - Australia, Canada, United States, Greece, Cyprus, (Republic of) Ireland, Germany, France, and even Norway.
This is far from over and we should hopefully hear in a few days from Dion or the University what is happening with the proposed cuts. So far from the University it has been a shameful radio silence but we are urging them to come forward and explain their reasoning behind the flimsy argument to make these cuts.
Everyone has already had a major impact by signing alone and becoming one of more than 360, and we are truly warmed by the receipt of this petition - please, please, please do continue to share, to friends, family, colleagues, students, advisors, pets, whoever will put their name down and support us.
Thank you, one and all. Your support will not be forgotten or brushed under the carpet.
