Dear Supporters,
I am writing to provide you with an important update regarding our ongoing petition against the Australian proposal to raise the age for social media to 16. The government and media are becoming increasingly confident about pushing forward with this dangerous and potentially illegal legislation draft.
Recently, the Heads Up Alliance, a significant adversary in our fight, has submitted a document to the government regarding social media, and it has been accepted. This development has led to plans for a summit later this year to discuss the proposed changes. Change is on the horizon, and it is crucial that we take action to prevent this age change from becoming a reality.
It is essential to note that while many argue that raising the age limit is necessary due to irresponsible teen behavior, statistically, only {2%} of teens exhibit such behavior. This legislation perpetuates blatant stereotypes and unfairly targets a vast majority of responsible young individuals.
I urge you all to continue sharing our petition on social media platforms. Your support is invaluable in spreading awareness and garnering more signatures. If you haven't already, please visit my Reddit page at r/keeptheagesame and share your thoughts and posts. Together, we can make a difference.
The battle may seem challenging, but we have not lost the war. We have the power to stop this legislation from being implemented. During my upcoming trip to the USA in December, I plan to present our petition to various social media sites and ensure it reaches the relevant parties at the summit.
Thank you for your unwavering support. Together, we can protect the rights of young individuals and prevent unjust legislation from being enforced.
Warm regards,
Alex W
