We’re approaching the final vote on the Ashcake Road Landfill "expansion" scheduled for April 23rd, and this is our critical moment. In 2022, the landfill proposal was defeated because our voices were united, strong, and clearly heard. The Hanover Board of Supervisors publicly noted at the time they hadn't heard from "a single person" in support of the landfill. But the landfill's proponents learned from their defeat.
This time, landfill representatives, customers, and contractors—people who don't have to live in our community or face decades living next to an 80-foot landfill—are actively contacting the Board of Supervisors and attending meetings in-person to speak in favor of "expansion."
We cannot let our voices be overshadowed or outnumbered by those who prioritize profit over our families, our health, and our community.
