Dear Supporters:
This is your chance to show your opposition to the plan to build a sportsplex in Potomac Yard. This project is not good for Alexandria and must be stopped. The economic benefits are a fantasy. This boondoggle will not improve our quality of life, reduce taxes or make Alexandria more affordable. Residents should decide the fate of this deal, not a billionaire from DC.
JOIN US IN THE GEORGE WASHINGTON BIRTHDAY PARADE
When: Monday, February 19th
Where: Meet in front of the Safeway on South Royal Street in Old Town
Time: 12 noon (parade runs from 1-3)
Bring your own signs if you can. See our Facebook Page for sign ideas. We will be providing T-shirts with our new logo as a costume until we run out. A $20 donation to help cover all our costs would be appreciated.
Second Line Band from DC will lead our march through Old Town.
This is the 275th anniversary of the City of Alexandria and the theme is “George Washington: Alexandria’s Original Living Legend.”
We will also be honoring: Rod Simmons, retired Alexandria Natural Resources Manager; Katy Cannady, a longtime local political activist who was involved in opposing the Redskins stadium in 1992; and Ellen Pickering, former City Council member, and environmentalist.
