We are calling for an immediate end to the academic discrimination and embargo against Iranian students, specifically due to interpretations of US Treasury OFAC sanctions.

Despite education being a human right, Iranian students are being systematically blocked from accessing global academic opportunities based on their passport, not their potential. We urge the US Treasury to reinstate or clarify OFAC General License G, which is intended to authorize certain academic exchanges.

Due to "over-compliance" by institutions and testing agencies like Pearson (PTE), ETS (TOEFL, GRE), and academic institutions:

• Students in Iran are unable to register for or take essential global standardized exams.
• Iranian nationals abroad are facing account suspensions and testing bans, preventing them from completing applications or demonstrating their qualifications.
• Academia is being forced to shut its doors on talented individuals seeking PhDs, masters, and scholarships.

This is collective punishment. Discrimination against students on the basis of nationality is a violation of the principle that science and art have no borders. By blocking academic access, we punish the very people who are fighting for a better future.

We demand:

1- The US Treasury Department clarify and reinstate General License G to ensure it cannot be used to block educational access for individuals.

2- Educational institutions and testing organizations immediately cease discrimination against individuals based on an Iranian passport or place of residence.

3- Academia worldwide reject this embargo and uphold the right to education.
