Join Us October 7: City Council Hearing on the Proposed Amtrak Facility

Hi everyone,

If you can make it, please join us at City Hall this Wednesday, October 7.

At 10 a.m., City Council’s Committee on Transportation and Public Way will hold a hearing on the proposed Amtrak maintenance facility. Committee members will question Amtrak representatives, and residents will have an opportunity to address the committee through public comment.

Location: City Hall, 121 N. LaSalle St., City Council Chamber, second floor
Arrival: Please arrive between 9 and 9:30 a.m., ideally as close to 9 as possible, to line up and sign up for public comment.

Public comment allows you to explain your concerns directly to the committee. If more than 10 people sign up, a lottery will select 10 speakers, so signing up does not guarantee a speaking slot. If you would like to participate, prepare remarks under three minutes, with a shorter version ready in case the time limit is reduced.

Whether you speak or attend in support, your presence matters. A strong turnout will help demonstrate the depth of our community’s opposition and our demand for a full Environmental Impact Statement, meaningful public participation and an appropriate location for this operation.

A press conference may take place before the hearing. We will share details if confirmed.
