Petition updateSTOP THE 200-FOOT TALL LDS CHURCH @ LONE MOUNTAIN LAS VEGASVirtual Town Hall May 7th 6-7pm (limited to 1,000 participants)
Rural Neighborhood Lone MountainLas Vegas, NV, United States
Apr 24, 2024

A Virtual Town Hall that has been announced in advance of the City Hall meeting. While participation is limited to 1,000, questions may be sent in ahead of time to publiccomment@lasvegasnevada.gov. Suggestions for questions would be to focus on the size/height, noting that it is not compatible with the surrounding land uses and zoning. (CLV Code 19.10.020. which was approved 3.20.2024, Page 3: E. Development Standards - the last sentence states the following: "The standards shall be designed to ensure compatibility of the development with existing and planned development and uses in the adjacent surrounding area.") Please be respectful of religious beliefs as the opposition is not against the church or it's members, but focused on the proposed building and how it will change the community. You can also point out that there are temples in other locations that are a single story and lack a steeple which demonstrates that it is possible to build something that fits in with a residential neighborhood and still provides a satisfactory place of worship. Feel free to note what is special about our community to you and your family and how those things might be negatively affected by a structure dominating the area. You may want to note the importance of our rural community and how unique it is; how the lack of sidewalks allows for horseback riding, the lack of street lights preserve our dark skies and benefits nocturnal animals, and how allowing one group dramatic allowances over others such sets a bad precedent. Thank you!
