We are forming a Tenants Association!!!
Hi Everyone,
Thanks again for the continued support as we grow this and educate ourselves on our rights as tenants: we are now in the process of forming the VERSAILLES WOODLAND HILLS TENANTS ASSOCIATION.
I have now been in touch with a few tenants association that were built after running into issues with EQUITY RESIDENTIAL. With their amazing help and advice we are able to model their actions and create our own structure.
The main issue I am facing now is informing tenants that we exist and that it is their right to join.
Our management has notified me that I am not allowed to post flyers within the premises as our handbook states: "Except in areas designated for such purpose, you are not allowed to post or distribute flyers, notices or any type of advertising on or under doors, in common areas, on cars or anywhere else in the building or throughout the community. Any such display must comply with local laws. Door to door solicitation is strictly prohibited."
When I asked which ones are the areas designated for such purposes, since there were some panels near mailboxes, that would be the perfect placement, I was actually told that for the time being there were no areas I could use and panels need to be reserved exclusively to advise that "masking is required in our covid" The info on those panels however are not used for COVID prevention but for "how to properly fold cardboard boxes"
In the meantime, I am reaching a limited amount of people through the app, but I am keeping on insisting that tenants be informed via a posted flyer as I would like this information to reach everyone and not discriminate:
- People who don’t have Internet
- People who are not consulting the my.equity app for any reasons.
- People who have Elevatophobia. (fear of elevators –yes it is a thing)
Still waiting to hear back on their final decision.
