As mentioned in my last update, on the 28th of October 2025 (1 year since the 3G Shutdown) the Senate established a Senate Inquiry into the recent Optus Triple Zero Outage.

The first public hearing was last Monday (3/11) with Optus and the ACMA in attendance. More hearings are to come!
As part of the inquiry the Committee will also be looking at other issues that affect the Triple Zero system.
The Inquiry is currently accepting Public Submissions until 25 November 2025!
If you have been impacted by the 3G Shutdown and 4G/5G Device Blocking please ensure you write a submission!

Writing a submission is one of the most important things you can do to help!
The issues with the shutdown & inconsistent device blocking are directly interconnected.

There is a massive opportunity here to share all of your stories and push for change!
The problems are far worse than most people would know and with your help these issues can be brought to the attention of the Committee.
ABC - Customers report basically new phones suddenly blocked from making calls - 3 Nov 2024
As per my blocking comparison site, it's quite clear the telcos have failed to do proper analysis about what phones actually work on 4G for 000 calls. Especially for phones they didn't sell or their handset partners didn't sell.
The telcos continue to block phones that work for 000, whilst not blocking all phones that don't.

It's clear there needs to be accountability & transparency for what occurred (and for what's happening now), and the only way that can happen is if we continue to raise awareness and push for change!

There is significant power in numbers (especially in a time like now), but it requires continued pressure from consumers and a demand for better.
Please also write to your Local MP, the Minister, Regulators (ACCC & ACMA) and demand answers & accountability from the telcos!
