Update
I know that most of you may be very disappointed in the Mayor, and most of the members on the Planning Commission. We all know that for them to completely disregard and discredit all those residents who talked, was absurd.
We need to turn our disappoint into efforts to stop this once and for all. We must press on!
The Supreme Court has confirmed that “public expressions of support or opposition establish a valid basis—that is, substantial evidence—for a decision on whether to approve or deny a special use permit or conditional use permit.
Unless otherwise changed, October 20th Strauss’ Special Use application will be voted on by Common Council.
WHEN: Oct 20th, 2020 6:30 pm
WHERE: Common Council Chambers,
City Hall, 9229 West Loomis Road (masks are required)
Request
Here are THREE important steps you can take to ensure our voices are heard.
#1- We need EVERYONE to call the Franklin Alderman (Numbers below) and tell them VOTE AGAINST THE SPECIAL USE APPROVAL and WE ARE COUNTING ON YOUR VOTEon Oct 20th
#2- We need EVERYONE to email the people on the list below:
shanneman@franklinwi.gov; mbarber@franklinwi.gov; dmayer@franklinwi.gov; jnelson@franklinwi.gov
and put address in the email (if residing in Franklin).
#3- We need people to attend the Oct. 20 Common Council Meeting at 6:30 p.m. I request you and anyone you know to attend in person at the Common Council meeting and oppose the expansion. Each person will have a chance to give a statement for 3 minutes. You can still attend in person to show your support against the expansion even if you're shy giving a statement in person. COVID protocols are followed at this meeting including mandatory masks and 6 ft of social distancing. Please verify meeting time/ location as this may change up to 24 hours prior.
Additional Updates
The petition has several updates. The petition is now a central repository of all the information for this MASSIVE building in a new location. You will be able to see many different links and lots of info as you scroll down in the petition.
Youtube video of public hearing - https://bit.ly/36U1y8X
Here is a link to the public hearing to learn more about why people are concerned and what statements they gave on Oct 8th at the public hearing. The public hearing starts around 12.00minutes into the video.
Here is a recent example of how a rendering plant aka “Meat packing plant” had to pay as a result of “noxious odors” that have “physically invaded” properties near its facility..
A settlement agreement reached this month will put $750,000 into a fund to be divided among “qualifying class members,” or all households within a 2-mile radius that sent in claim forms. Forms were sent to more than 10,300 homes and more than 1,500 returned them, court documents show. Distributions will be capped at $1,000 per household.
Sanimax must also pay the plaintiffs’ attorney costs of about $300,000 and invest at least $450,000 in projects to reduce emissions from the facility.
I request you to forward this petition to as many people as you know and have them sign the petition. Make sure to select Franklin as the location.
