The assistant City Manager has written an assurance that the "...density and housing changes in the Downtown Business Zoning District, will be considered through the upcoming Comprehensive Plan update. This consideration could result in changes to the Downtown Business Zoning District or no changes at all. No specific changes to height or density limits have been proposed, as specifics would be determined through the Comprehensive Plan update process if changes are pursued at all. As with any thorough and deliberate Comp Plan update, the process includes multiple opportunities for public input."
READ BETWEEN THE LINES! THIS DANGEROUS PROPOSAL COULD BE THE REASON A NEW COMPREHENSIVE PLAN IS ON THE TABLE FOR THE CITY TO WORK ON IN THE FIRST PLACE!
I know of no one who moved to Williamsburg because they really wanted to live in Hampton or Newport News or Northern Virginia, ad nauseam...If anyone out there wants to captain your neighborhood and help with getting signatures, putting out yard signs and alerting the public to this threatening willingness to trade our small town for political gain, and for some to make huge profits, post your message. I'm currently handwriting letters to those neighbors I can't reach on foot and need all the help you're willing to give.
Thank you for caring-Ruth
