On Tuesday November 6th I suffered a brain hemorrhage and was taken to Whitehorse General where they say they almost lost me. I was medivacced to VGH Neurosciences NICU where they saved my life. I’m in recovery but not able to advocate for the sled dogs at this time. With the 2019 Yukon Quest fast approaching I’m asking all who support this petition to help. You can make a donation to support this petition and keep it relevant and ask your friends and relatives to do the same. You can also make a donation in the name of a friend or a family member as a Christmas Gift. At the moment your help is greatly appreciated. We need to speak for those who cannot.

The Yukon Government continues to refuse to respond to this issue or to acknowledge the growing world-wide protest against all forms of sled dog abuse. Meanwhile the heartless abuse of defenseless northern sled dogs continues not only in the Yukon but right across Canada.

Please continue to share this petition online with friends and family in honour of all who continue to suffer and die. These animals are literally run to death. Read & share my article that exposes the horror ~~> https://www.yukonpoetlaureate.com/long-distance-sled-dog-racing/

Many mushers have run more than one dog to death. Hugh Neff, owner of the dog that died during last year’s 2018 Yukon Quest, also ran another dog to death in a prior race. The preliminary necropsy stated that sled dog Boppy died from 'aspiration' which is a polite way of saying he died on the trail in -55 below when he was run to death trying to please his master and choked to death on his own vomit. This is a prime cause of death in both the Iditarod and the Yukon Quest. They also freeze their lungs and drown and the male dogs often suffer frostbite to their genitals. The suffering is very real.

You can read and share the final necropsy report for Boppy the Sled dog and note the condition this animal was in when the vets ok'd him to run a thousand miles in -55 below. ~~> https://www.yukonquest.com/news/final-necropsy-report-boppy-hugh-neffs-dog

I recently released a book called “it’s howlin’ time!” a section of the book is dedicated to the plight of the sled dogs. The book is available in limited release and can be ordered via https://www.macsbooks.ca/ and https://www.chapters.indigo.ca/en-ca/home/storelocator/storedetails/566/

Remember you can make a difference. Talk to your friends, your family. Make a donation to keep this petition relevant. Share the above article to expose the ugly truth to the world and let the Yukon Government know their irresponsible attitude will no longer be tolerated.

The petition has been signed by over 32,332 people from 144 countries on all 7 continents around the world. Let’s shoot that number up to 35,000!
