Former Shadow Home Secretary Diane Abbott has written to the United Kingdom’s tax office (HMRC) calling for an investigation into the Church of Scientology and their finances, claiming “Scientology has a history of fraudulent activity internationally”.

She also praised those who have spoken out about their experiences, recognising "former Scientologists have also attested to the horrific treatment of former members” and going on to say "I want to commend you for speaking out publicly".

The letter, which can be read in full on Scientology Business, is a milestone in the movement for Scientology's activities to be reviewed by government and is a stepping stone towards the accountability you, by signing this petition, have called for.
