Homophobic/Corrupt Sam Kutesa Is Now In Town For His New UN Job
Sep 14, 2014 — Sisters and Brothers and comrades in the struggle for Global justice.
As you must know by now, our Global campaign against the confirmation of Uganda's foreign minister Sam Kutesa --representative of corrupt and homophobic president Gen. Yoweri Museveni-- as President of UN General Assembly garnered world news and attention.
In August Uganda's Constitutional court nullified the Anti-Homosexuality Act saying Parliament passed the bill which was then signed by Gen. Museveni without a quorum. We believe our campaign played a MAJOR role in pressuring the regime.
But the narrow technical ruling means the bill can always be revived in Parliament. Gen. Museveni may try again before Uganda's 2016 presidential election. After all he has never apologized for telling CNN in February, 2014, that Gays are "disgusting" The pressure must be relentless.
Recently the Museveni regime signed a $600,000 deal with U.S. PR firm Mercury LLC to start sugarcoating its image -- this kind of work normally involves planting cooked up fluff pieces in U.S. media.
We already have 50 signatures on a new Petition campaign launched yesterday demanding that Mercury LLC cancel the contract and return the $600,000 Gen. Museveni paid the firm so it can be used in Uganda's hospitals where The Observer reports that people die due to lack of medicines and inability to pay. Yet Gen. Museveni bought a $50 million Gulf Stream jet for his private use, with diverted foreign aid money the U.K.'s The Daily Mail reported.
Please sign this new Petition and also forward it to friends and relatives. Let's win back the $600,000 for the children of Uganda!
We are also soon share articles about Sam Kutesa's corrupt business practices.
Let's keep the pressure on the homophobic regime.
