BOYCOTT DONATING TO THE COLLEGE

Adysn KiltyMA, United States
May 11, 2023

Hello all,

Please help us achieve our "Saint Anselm College Student and Community Safety Resolution" (scroll down to read) by boycotting donating to the college and encouraging all other students, faculty, staff, alumni, family, and friends to do so as well.

After last night's Town Hall with Donald Trump on campus, President Favazza issued a letter to our campus community. He made the following statements:

"I am deeply troubled by the former President’s remarks regarding the civil trial that concluded on Tuesday with a finding that he was liable for sexual assault. Equally disturbing was the audience’s reaction with laughter. Let me be very clear, sexual assault is no laughing matter.  The college does not tolerate sexual misconduct of any kind, including sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, stalking and sexual harassment."

"The fact that a candidate for President would attack a first-year college student [Lauren Batchelder] on social media for asking an honest question underscores that this candidate has no regard to the power differential between himself and anyone else. It also speaks to the total lack of respect he has shown towards women throughout his career that has now culminated with his being liable for the sexual abuse and defamation of E. Jane Carroll. Such behavior is not only criminal, but is the antithesis of the values we seek to promote and espouse at Saint Anselm College."

We agree with these statements made by President Favazza, and want to ensure that no future events will tarnish the good name of Saint Anselm College or put students, faculty, and staff in danger ever again. Help us achieve the following is our "Saint Anselm College Student and Community Safety Resolution."

Saint Anselm College Student and Community Safety Resolution

We the Saint Anselm College community - students, faculty, staff, alumni, families, and friends - believe that, in order to ensure Saint Anselm College listens to and protects their students moving forward, the college administration and the NHIOP must consent to the following terms of agreement:

  1. Provide safety and security protocols at the time of announcing an event, rather than having a delay:
    1. Provide all relevant information regarding the law enforcement presence and other measures of security to protect the campus community immediately upon the announcement of an event.
  2. Give NHIOP ambassadors notice of who will be at an event before they sign up to work it.
  3. Commit to not hosting, or allowing other organizations to host, individuals at the college or NHIOP who pose a safety threat to Saint Anselm College students:
    1. Commit to not hosting, or allowing other organizations to host, individuals at the college or NHIOP who have, or whose supporters have, a pattern of repeated instances of violence against dissenters.
  4. Commit to not hosting, or allowing other organizations to host, individuals at the college or NHIOP who have previously harassed Saint Anselm College students:
    1. Commit to not hosting, or allowing other organizations to host, individuals at the college or the NHIOP, who have publicly named and targeted Saint Anselm College students, thereby subjecting them to potential widespread online harassment.
  5. Commit to not hosting, or allowing other organizations to host, individuals at the college or NHIOP who have convictions or active legal cases against them for interpersonal violence of any nature.
  6. Commit to not hosting, or allowing other organizations to host, individuals at the college or NHIOP who have participated in, or incited insurrections against the US government.
  7. Commit to not hosting, or allowing other organizations to host, individuals at the college or NHIOP who played a role in an organized, violent attack against the US government with the purpose of overturning the results of a free and fair election.
  8. Commit to not hosting, or allowing other organizations to host, individuals at the college or NHIOP who spread misinformation by denying the validity of any free and fair election.
  9. Commit to not hosting any events which attract an off-campus crowd or require additional security during reading days.

Until these terms of agreement are met, we are urging all those who have signed the petition, “Stop Saint Anselm College from Hosting Donald Trump,” and many others who believe in prioritizing student safety, to boycott donating to the college’s endowment.
