Stop Rocky View County's plans to spend $42 million on a new administration building

The Issue

Rocky View County Council landed County residents with a $65 million debt to urbanize Balzac. Attempts to pay off this debt over the last 10 years by approving yet more development have failed. Servicing this debt has already cost residents tens of millions of dollars in taxes.

Council now plans to spend $42 million on a new luxury administration building in Balzac.

Spending $42 million on a new administration building in Balzac is an utter waste of tax payers' money. The main argument for a new administration building is that the current building is in Calgary but Balzac's urbanization has made annexation by Calgary imminent. We are also told that the current building is in need of repair, but costs of repair are less than $1.6 million.

Instead of spending $42 million on an unneeded and unwanted new building in Balzac these tax dollars could be used to reduce this year's budget, repair roads, address drainage, enhance rec facilities, reduce taxation and pay down the debt. If we really need new buildings, let us build new satellite offices and recreation facilities in Bragg Creek and Langdon that are of direct benefit to residents.

Responded
Has this petition been hacked? Why has my response never shown up? Gloria Wilkinson is completely opposed to this $42 Million dollar waste of my money. Whether it came from my provincial-pocket or my municipal-pocket it is still my money that is spent without my permission. STOP IT!
