Campaigners from the Our North Finchley group "delivered" the petition last night at 7500 signatures (also submitted to council online). The council Strategic Planning Committee met in Hendon Town Hall whilst a packed out public gallery looked on...

After a 2.5 hour deliberation including several objections along with our own, the council voted on the development planning proposal...

0 for, 8 against and 1 abstention!!

Fantastic result - now we need to fight for a more suitable lower density development which includes family homes, affordable housing, replacement Bowling and Cinema, Leisure Centre preferably with Wave Pool.

There also needs to be suitable surveys of the Glebelands Newt Population and other wildlife as dictated by law. Then development can be planned including suitable mitigation measures to protect the Newts etc...
