Raul E Medina Age 72 6-15-12 Newark NJ Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray and Newark Police Director Samuel DeMaio announced today that the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force is investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision. Raul E. Medina, a 72-year-old Newark man, was struck and killed today by an NJTransit bus at approximately 9 am in the vicinity of Clinton Avenue and Astor Street in Newark. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:26 am., the prosecutor's office said in a statement. Medina was traveling on foot when he was struck by a bus traveling eastbound on Clinton Avenue. The bus continued from the scene. It was not apparent that the bus operator had knowledge that the pedestrian was struck.
