THANK YOU to everyone who turned out for the protest last Saturday against Hackney's motorcycle & scooter parking charges. We had a great turnout, it was fantastic to see so many standing up together for the rights of riders.
Following the protest we were offered a meeting with the Councillor responsible for the PTW parking charges. On Friday we met with him along with representatives of the Motorcycle Action Group and GMB Union, who support the campaign.
The Councillor was unable to answer any of our concerns and had no evidence to back up Hackney Council's extortionate parking charges. However he confirmed that they have now postponed the implementation of charges from autumn this year until spring/summer 2023.
This is only a partial concession and obviously not enough. It’s clear the Council's position is contradictory and unsustainable and we will keep fighting until they back down.
With the delay, we have more time to convince the Council that PTW riders are vital to the life and economy of Hackney, but it's clear there is still a long way to go, and we will need your help.
Stay tuned for more news and action
