Good morning,

This petition has been submitted to the planning inspectorate and the DEFRA Secretary of State with the following cover letter.

** Please continue to share as we will update them with the number of signatures! **

Dear Planning Inspectorate and Secretary of State for DEFRA,

We now have 7,788 signatures on the petition - Stop Plans for Drinking Southern Water's Recycled Sewage. People continue to sign.

In addition, there have been 323 individual comments from respondents.

Of these comments,

26% of people are concerned about the SAFETY OF THE WATER

26% of people DON'T TRUST SOUTHERN WATER

The remaining 48% have environmental concerns, feel that other options/alternatives are available and that the recycled water will drive people to use bottled water.

Some are concerned about the way the consultation process has been conducted.

This project must be fully scrutinised and public feedback must be taken into account. I have attached the verbatim comments and the categorisation, this demonstrates that there is an overwhelming public objection to this project. We hope that this is useful in your examination.

Finally, not everyone has the technical capacity or time to review the very complex planning application and therefore a petition is a good mechanism for you to hear the public view point and the genuine concern in relation to this project. It must be taken into account.
