Hello Heather
We are saddened to hear of the problems Rex has been having. Unfortunately, we are struggling to recollect being made aware of this situation during the last twelve months.
I can assure you we would never sell a pet knowing there were any health issues. It would not be in our interest. Our business wouldn't survive if that was our attitude. The welfare of all our animals is our top priority.
All our rabbits are cleaned and health checked daily. If a problem is found, we take them to the vets ourselves.
GI stasis would be noticed when your pet is checked before sale. It is commonly bought on due to stress, like moving to a new home, change of diet or trying to introduce to a new rabbit.
It is common for the mother to transmit the E.cuniculi parasite to her litter, however around 80% of rabbits carry the microscopic parasite without ever showing symptoms. When symptoms do appear it is usually very noticeable, such as head tilt or loss of balance. If we had observed any such symptoms the rabbit would never be sold and would have immediately been taken to the vets to be treated.
We would welcome you to visit us, or call, anytime and we could discuss this matter, this may help to find out what went wrong.
We always ask customers to contact us if ever they have any problems after purchase and we will do our utmost to help wherever we can.
Kind Regards
Kings Heath Pet Centre
