A quick update:

As per Re: News' recent post, if the government attempts to remove gender and sexuality education from the curriculum, the act cannot stop schools from still teaching it. Tabby Besley from InsideOUT Kōaro spoke to the news source and said "short of passing legislation through parliament, which has not been committed, there is nothing the government can do to stop schools from teaching about gender and sexuality... the schools that already follow these guidelines... know how important it is to do this, and that it's a form of bullying prevention and suicide prevention."

However the act of committing to this change removes guidelines and certain accessibility from schools. The act in itself is homophobic and transphobic, spreading false messages that these identities are nothing more than an 'ideology'.
