Stop M Holdings from destroying Bukit Utama's green spaces

The Issue

As a resident of Bandar Utama and a member of the Bukit Utama community, I have witnessed with dismay the ongoing developments that threaten to erase our cherished green spaces. The M Holdings Group has unveiled plans that convert the Bukit Utama Golf Course into a massive commercial area, complete with hotels, a hospital, office towers, a convention centre, and a shopping mall. These plans not only breach their agreement with us, the residents, but also fundamentally alter the landscape we call home.

The transformation of Bukit Utama Golf Course will have dire consequences for our community. Our roads, already struggling with regular traffic, will buckle under the pressure of increased vehicles, leading to incessant congestion and delays. Furthermore, studies have shown that such rapid urban development often correlates with an increase in crime, tackling which will require actionable plans that strain local resources further.

Our neighborhood, once an oasis of tranquillity, will face the brunt of noise pollution, especially from the steady stream of vehicles and construction. These vestiges of nature, these green lungs, have offered us a respite and have been integral to our physical and mental well-being. Without them, the quality of life we cherish is at risk. The conversion of these lands to commercial giants will trample not only on our peace but also on local flora and fauna, disrupting ecosystems that have thrived here for decades.

M Holdings' breach of their legal agreement is not just a violation of trust but signifies an unsettling precedence of prioritizing profit over people. The sentimental, environmental, and social value of green spaces is monumental, and replacing them with concrete structures would be an irreversible mistake.

We demand that M Holdings honor its commitments to preserve the green spaces and golf course. We urge local authorities and planning councils to hold them accountable to their agreements and prevent this development disaster.

Our fight is a just one for the betterment of our collective living experience and future. Please sign this petition to save Bukit Utama's green spaces and ensure that we continue to have a green, peaceful, and healthy community for generations to come.
