THANK YOU for more than 1,600-plus signatures and the overwhelming show of support in our efforts to stop Lyons Township High School District 204 from selling its wooded Willow Springs, Ill., property to an industrial developer.

Both LTHS bidders would be catastrophic for our neighborhood, schools and parks — bringing pollution, noise, traffic, learning disruption and reduced property values.

Since they started this hasty process less than two months ago, LTHS has refused repeated requests from the Village of Willow Springs, Pleasantdale School District and Pleasantdale Park District to discuss the property and its sale. The LTHS Board held no dedicated public forum or made a good-faith effort to solicit community feedback from those most impacted. It appears they want their $55 million windfall with zero oversight from the communities they purport to serve.

But they won’t be able to ignore your voice.

You’ve already done so much by lending your name to our petition, but if you’re willing to do a little more, we believe we will prevail. Here’s how you can help:

1) Share the petition with friends and family, especially those that live in the communities of Willow Springs, Burr Ridge, Countryside, Indian Head Park, La Grange and Western Springs, Illinois.

2) Reach out to Lyons Township High School and tell them you are against the sale of public-owned lands to developers that don’t fit the character of a residential neighborhood. Please e-mail LTHS Superintendent Brian Waterman at bwaterman@lths.net or call LTHS at 708-579-6300 to voice your concerns.

3) Attend the Monday, Jan. 23, 2023, LTHS Board meeting if you live in the area. It will be held at 7:30 p.m. at the LTHS North Campus, 100 S. Brainard Ave., La Grange. LTHS requires public commenters fill out this form ahead of the meeting in order to speak.

4) Visit our website, Neighbors of Pleasantdale, for updates.

Thank you for your continued support! It’s time to let the LTHS Board know that EVERY voice counts!
