Fantastic to hear that the defence secretary has officially scrapped the plans for Linton on Ouse Asylum Centre.
This campaign has tried to provide a holistic and balanced view, highlight issues ranging from refugee Wellbeing, planning, abuse of power and above all the impact on the community.
From the outset, the Home Office plans were cloaked in ambiguity, half truths and misconceptions. I do hope that with the new Prime Minister, there comes greater transparency and accountability on the UK Home Office and Home Secretary, starting with clause 97 of the Levelling up Bill. If this passes, it allows the government to bypass planning law and grant themselves planning permission. This is simply wrong and I hope this has raised your awareness on this clause.
