On Monday evenings planning hearing Lichfield District Council approved planning permission for 300 houses on Arkall Farm. Despite a huge outcry from local residents and a packed audience, a majority of committee members passed the application. The developers will be coming back to the planning committee for approval for more houses in the future. They want to build 1000 houses on this site. Following this decision by Lichfield, the Leader of Tamworth Borough Council has written to the Government requesting the application is "called in" and reviewed by the Government. This will give a fresh opportunity for the evidence about traffic and local impact to be reviewed. It is unfair that Tamworth has reduce its housing numbers in the area, for Lichfield District Council to then ignore this and dump houses on their side of the boundary. While we may have lost this battle, the fight is not over. Please continue to get people to sign the petition, every signature matters. Cllr. Robert Pritchard
