Thanks again to everyone who has signed, shared, and supported this petition. Please keep sharing it.

1) New petition regarding school enforcement
The same out-of-control Lawndale Code Enforcement Officers are now targeting elementary schools and issuing parking tickets to parents dropping off their kids. Please support and share this petition:

The only way this will stop is media attention and clear evidence that the broader community is affected.

2) Appeal deadline issue (not legal advice)
Don't take legal advice from a guy on the internet, but, for anyone with a pending code violation appeal: the City is required to conduct hearings within 30 days. Mine exceeded that deadline by 17 days. The “independent” Hearing Officer, Elio Palacios (whose office is about 5 miles from the City Attorney’s office in Riverside), stated there is no enforcement clause, so he was unsure if anything could be done. I argued equal protection—if an appellant misses a deadline, the City wins, so the inverse should also apply. It’s worth raising at any hearing.

3) City Council agenda (important)
The case referenced in the petition is on the City Council agenda Monday night. If anyone can attend and ask questions, it would help. I’m holding off to avoid retaliatory citations, but others showing up signals community oversight.

"City Council Regular Meeting on Monday, February 2, 2026, 6:30 PM: The City Council will conduct a closed session, pursuant to Government Code section 54956.9(d)(1), to discuss existing litigation: Name of Case: City of Lawndale v. LA Investment, LLC (LA Superior Court Case No. 20TRCV00065)."

"LMC § 1.11.060 “A requested appeal SHALL be heard before a hearing officer within thirty days of the city's receipt of the appeal, unless both the city and party requesting the hearing agree”
