The upcoming frequency cut to the 391/2/3 next week has been featured in Macclesfield Nub news, which includes a response from Cheshire East Council.

Whilst I agree that its a very rural route that suffers from delays, and streamling the route into a 2 hourly service does provide some simplicity. It is still a reduction to many, particularly Poynton for the town it is proximity to Greater Manchester. An irregular bus service affects how people travel and their education/employment opportunities.

The council hopes the 2 hourly service will be more reliable which helps increase passenger numbers. Well er yes, reliability is a factor but bigger than that is frequency. If the timetable does not fit in with peoples lives, people will not use it whether that is increased car dependency, or paying more for the train.
