Another vital step towards change

Fabian Hamilton MP held a debate about LPA abuse and the OPG's and banks' failings at Westminster Hall this week. Fabian had a roundtable with the banks before this debate to discuss safeguarding. The banks have admitted there are problems with LPA abuse and the way the OPG currently work with them - no clear guidance and massive loopholes in safeguarding and mental capacity. The banks are pretty much left to it.

Fabian also quotes from whistle-blowers at the OPG who have stated how ineffective current safeguarding is, e.g. "no potential attorney is ever vetted". Shocking, when an LPA is possibly one of the most powerful permissions you can grant someone in your whole life... control over your life and finances.
