Thank you for supporting the campaign to stop Labour's Bus Lanes on Millbrook Road West & Redbridge Road.
We are nearly at 100 signatures to please give the petition a boost by sharing with friends, family and colleagues.
Over a number of years, residents, and we as your local Councillors, have highlighted potential impacts, including:
- Additional queuing on already busy sections of the A33 corridor, particularly at peak times;
- Increased traffic displacement through nearby residential streets (for example, King George’s Avenue) as drivers seek alternative routes;
- Added pressure from retail related traffic, including the Costco store and petrol station;
- Knock on effects for commuter and docks traffic; and
- A risk that bus journey times could be adversely affected at peak periods if general congestion increases.
We have specific concerns at the Regents Park Road traffic light junction: a bus lane leading to the signals could create conflicts between buses pulling away from the stop (towards the city) and vehicles turning left into Regents Park Road, as left turning traffic would need to cross in front of buses.
- Councillors Jeremy Moulton & Steven Galton, Conservative Councillors for Millbrook Ward
