Actualización sobre la peticiónStop Killing Us: A petition from the women of Australia to stop violence against usHelp us reach 20,000 signatures by tomorrow

Tomorrow, our federal elected representatives return to parliament.

Since they were last there, the number of women killed in Australia reached 74 in 2023, and seven women have already been killed in 2024.

I have been reading about the Coward Punch campaign, and wondering what it took to get so much national support for it, since it was launched in 2012.

I came across a study by the Victorian Institute of Forensic Medicine and Monash Uni from 2019.

It found there were 127 one-punch deaths in Australia between 2000-2016. Of those, 94% of victims were males.

If you multiply the number of women killed in 2023 in Australia by six (to represent the six years of the coward punch study), you get 444.

That means more than 400 women will be killed in Australia over six years, if we do not address this epidemic of violence against us.

Both Senator Larissa Waters and independent MP Allegra Spender have indicated they are keen to table this petition in parliament.

I would love to see this supported across the political spectrum.

We need fewer than 25 signatures to reach 20,000.

Let's give the media something to talk about.

Please help our number grow by sharing this petition.

Let's give it one last big push.
