Firstly I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude for your support. We are united towards our goal of preventing more animal deaths, like the revolting picture below. But to successfully achieve our goal, more needs to be done.
I wanted to make you aware that there is a troubling theme that is emerging: due to the success of the show that is the subject of this petition, other networks are trying to capitalize on that success by creating their own versions. The current crop of reality shows along this vein are, on Discovery alone: Naked and Afraid and its various off shoots: Naked and Afraid XL, Naked and Afraid of Love and Naked and Afraid Uncensored; Survivorman - and its offshoots, Survivorman 10 Days and Survivorman Lost Pilots; Dual Survival and Alaskan Bush People. History Channel is getting in on the action with Swamp People, which takes contestants into the bayous of Louisiana strictly to hunt alligators. Also on the History Channel is the show, Alone which is basically a copy of Naked and Afraid.
What all of these shows have in common is people go into wild animals’ territories and approach animals that are not bothering them and they kill them in painful ways. This disturbing trend must end. For this reason it’s more urgent than ever to help this petition succeed.
So I am asking for some more help in reaching out to the powers that be to tell them we will not accept this. Below is the contact information. Please let them know if they don’t stop airing these disgusting shows, you will boycott them.
