Representatives of the Treasure Coast Triathletes (TCT) and other members from the Hutchinson Island cycling community met with the St. Lucie Transportation Planning Organization (TPO) Bicycle-Pedestrian Advisory Committee (BPAC) on 23 January 2025. The meeting began with an open-floor session where public comments were delivered regarding the dangers of rumble strips within the bike lanes along Hutchinson Island and throughout the greater Treasure Coast region (Indian River, St. Lucie, and Martin counties are all affected by the Rumble Strips Improvements Project). The call for remediation of the rumble strips was adopted as a formal agenda item by the BPAC council members, and will be discussed in subsequent meetings. Communications between the TPO and the FDOT District 4 leadership are pending as a result of this meeting.
