Stop inconsiderate people causing late night noise disturbances at 228 Serangoon Ave 4
The Issue
Residents here have been frequently disturbed by late-night gatherings occurring right below our homes. For at least five consecutive nights, there has been a group of people who assemble at the tables and seats below the void deck, consuming alcohol and engaging in loud conversations and laughter. This disruptive behaviour stretches beyond midnight, affecting our peace and quality of life.
Despite signs posted by the Aljunied Hougang Town Council to keep the noise level down after 10:30 PM, this perennial issue persists, leaving residents frustrated and sleep-deprived. The noise is not only a disturbance but also poses a potential safety concern, encouraging the presence of rowdy behaviour in our community.
On 7 September 2026, a neighbour was compelled to call the police when the noise levels escalated at about 11:30 PM. While the police intervened effectively, it shouldn’t have come to this—residents shouldn't have to rely on such measures to ensure a peaceful environment at home. The inconsiderate gatherings and noise persists the following days despite SPF’s intervention. There was loud laughter and screaming on 12 September at 5am.
Our proposed solution is for authorities to take action against such inconsiderate people, or in the worst case, remove the table and chairs situated beneath the void deck. Relocating these facilities to a more suitable area away from residential spaces could significantly reduce these late-night disruptions. This initiative aligns with the community’s need for tranquility and respects all residents’ rights to a peaceful living environment.
This situation severely affects residents’ nightly rest and mental health. By taking this step, we send a decisive message against noise pollution and enhance our community’s well-being.
