A Potential Family Connection Inside the Sheriff's Office? Serious Questions Surface.

Could a family connection within the very law enforcement agency investigating Ken Urker's death raise one of the most significant questions yet about the independence of this case?

Two publicly available records have brought an important question to our attention.

And we believe it deserves a clear, documented answer.

What do the public records reveal?
RECORD ONE: A Louisiana Court of Appeal ruling from 2019

In State v. Crochet, page 5, the court identifies a Clay Blanchard as a deputy with the Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office, describing testimony concerning a September 2015 investigation.

This establishes that an individual by that name served in that law enforcement capacity at the time.

RECORD TWO: A publicly available family obituary

A 2017 obituary for Robin Blanchard Rousse, published by Falgout Funeral Homes, lists Rod Blanchard and Clay Blanchard as brothers.

Rod Blanchard is also the name of Gypsy Rose Blanchard's father.

However, the obituary alone does not establish that these are the same individuals connected to Gypsy Rose's family or the deputy identified in the court record.

Now consider the implications IF these connections are confirmed.
What if the deputy identified in the court record is indeed related to someone personally connected to Ken's death investigation?

And what if that deputy participated in the investigation, influenced investigative decisions, or had access to relevant evidence?

Wouldn't that raise a potentially significant conflict of interest concern?

Wouldn't the public be entitled to know whether the relationship had been disclosed?

Whether the department assessed the potential for bias?

And whether safeguards were implemented to ensure that personal relationships could not influence investigative decisions?

If these circumstances were verified, this could become a major issue concerning the independence and perceived impartiality of Ken's investigation.

Not because a family relationship automatically proves wrongdoing.

But because an investigation must be conducted fairly and must be capable of withstanding scrutiny when questions about impartiality arise.

Questions the Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office should answer
Was Deputy Clay Blanchard employed by the department when Ken died on October 1, 2026?
Did he respond to the scene or participate in any aspect of Ken's investigation?
Is he related to Gypsy Rose Blanchard's father, Rod Blanchard?
If a relevant relationship existed, was it disclosed and formally assessed?
What safeguards were in place to ensure that investigative decisions remained impartial?
Would independent oversight be appropriate if a significant potential conflict were established?
Public confidence should never depend on unanswered questions.
The responsibility to maintain confidence in an investigation rests with the authorities conducting it.

And when legitimate questions arise, transparency is an opportunity to demonstrate integrity, not something to be feared.

We are not alleging that Clay Blanchard acted improperly.

We are not alleging that the Sheriff's Office concealed a relationship or interfered with evidence.

And we recognise that the available records do not yet establish that the people named are the same individuals.

But those uncertainties are exactly why clarification matters.

We are asking for official confirmation of the relevant identities, the personnel involved in Ken's investigation, and whether any applicable conflict of interest procedures were followed.

If no relevant connection exists, that should be clarified.

If a connection exists but had no bearing on the investigation, the public deserves an explanation of how impartiality was protected.

And if a significant conflict is established, the appropriate response should include independent scrutiny.

Ken Urker deserves an investigation beyond reasonable questions of impartiality.
A person's death deserves more than speculation.

It deserves evidence, transparency, professional independence and accountability.

We are not asking anyone to presume misconduct. We are asking the authorities to demonstrate that proper safeguards were in place.

Because the question is not simply whether a family connection exists.

The question is whether every reasonable measure was taken to ensure that Ken's investigation remained fair, independent and free from improper influence.

Until those questions are answered, the public is entitled to seek clarification.

If there is no conflict, establish that through the records. If there is a conflict, address it independently. Either way, Ken deserves answers supported by evidence.

Justice for Ken means following the evidence, wherever it leads.
