Dear Supporters,

Thank you — we won.

Spurred on by your signatures, your letters to councillors, and your willingness to speak up, the Council voted to amend the budget and remove the proposed parking changes.

This was not an easy decision for them to make. Anyone who watched the meeting could see how difficult the broader budget situation is. Public finances are under significant strain, and councillors were being asked to make tough choices across many areas.

That is precisely why your voices mattered. Over 4,000 residents engaged — not to dismiss the financial challenges, but to ask that the full impact on local livelihoods be properly considered. We should recognise that councillors faced a genuine dilemma and thank those who supported the amendment.

This outcome is a reminder of the power of local engagement. When residents participate in significant numbers, it strengthens democratic decision-making and ensures policies are scrutinised against real-world impact.

The financial pressures facing the Island remain real, and sustainable solutions will still need to be found.

Thank you again for supporting this petition — and, don’t take this personally, but I hope I won’t need to be emailing you again anytime soon.

With appreciation,
Adam Provis
