Petition updateStop Forcing Mail-Order Pharmacy as the Only Option of CoverageMail Order Pharmacy Delays & Improper Temperature Storage Must Be Regulated

I'm traveling to the Tennessee Board of Pharmacy on Tuesday on behalf of patients that I've connected with from this state who have stated that they've received medications that were questionable after being exposed to extreme temperatures. Delays are heavily impacting patients right now across the state of Tennessee.

When medications arrive late or without protection from temperature extremes, patients have little protection as they are forced to mail order pharmacy.

Boards of Pharmacy that are supposed to regulate the issues will claim that they don't receive complaints, but when asking patients whom they'd file a complaint when issues arise, rarely do they ever say the Board of Pharmacy. Most complain to the pharmacy or the insurance. Sadly, the insurance company may have merged with the mail order pharmacy.

Like myself when I first started, most don't even know that the Boards of Pharmacy exist. Upon complaining, some like myself have realized that the conflicts of interest on the Boards create barriers to their ability to take meaningful action.

The last few weeks have been difficult for our family. We need more patients, caregivers, and community members to get involved and do more to help. Change will not occur by myself alone. It will take everyone working together.

I've connected with a couple of patients who may come along with me, but we need more to pressure the Boards of Pharmacy to protect us.

If states are unable to regulate mail order pharmacies, they need to confess and demand that legislation be put into place to require the FDA to regulate the mail order pharmacies that many of us are forced to use.

In the meantime, no one should be forced to mail order pharmacies. It's risking the lives of patients like my son.

If you're interested in attending the Board of Pharmacy meeting in Nashville, TN with me on Tuesday, January 11th, please let me know.
