A Couple's Struggle: Weeks Without Mail Delivery as Directed to Mail Order Pharmacy

This time of the year, stories and reports like these are not rare. Every year, patients forced or steered to mail order pharmacies as the only option for coverage. Many experience medication delays as Amazon packages and gifts are commonly prioritized over life-saving medications.

It's a problem that shouldn't exist.

Local pharmacy access should always be an affordable option in our coverage. Many local pharmacies offer free, temperature-controlled delivery in standard vehicles instead of non-temperature-controlled UPS, FedEx, and USPS, vehicles with traditional mail order.

In this article, the couple states, “My health insurance keeps pushing for mail-order drugs. I can’t do it. I can’t do it, because I don’t know when I’m going to get them. I can’t trust them,” said Russ Moore.

Please continue reaching out to your legislators to ensure patient choice of pharmacy, local pharmacy survival, and for proper regulation and accountability of mail order pharmacies in relation to temperatures and delays.

For those who want to become more active on these issues, we have created a join to become a member option on our website. It's free.

Thank you for your continued support.
