Dear Supporters,

It's a critical ask, and I wouldn't bother asking if I didn't believe that even one person reading this has the power in their voice to save lives by simply showing up. Family and friends are great at the beginning of advocacy. Over time, they become numb to the issues, so I'm relying on the kindness of strangers to help me save lives.

Who will be the courageous heroes who will show up to support us and patients like my son who are forced to risk their lives for the profits of these corporations?

I recently connected with the mother whose kid is in the ER today due to interruptions in treatment due to a delay from a pharmacy benefit manager that has merged with a mail order pharmacy that they were forced to use. There are no penalties for these mail order pharmacies when patients are forced to their pharmacies and our children end up hospitalized due to delays and improper temperature storage. The pain of this failed system is felt the most by the patients and caregivers who feel trapped in it.

There are no regulations requiring timely delivery, safe temperatures, or safe staffing. If a physician or nurse caused these delays and interruptions in treatment, it would be neglect and patient abandonment.

As long as lobbyists hold most of the seats in these Board of Pharmacy meetings and corporate power on Board of Pharmacy members isn't met with resistance, there will never be regulations that protect patients or our children from harm. Safe pharmacy and medication access will continue crumbling around us as these corporations have proven shareholders' profits will always come before our children's and patients' lives.

Missouri will have a Board of Pharmacy Meeting on October 19, 2023. They do not have their agenda posted yet, so I do not know the exact time. Often, the meetings start around 8 or 9 AM CST. There will also be a virtual meeting. I will be there.

Will you please come in support? If you cannot attend in person, there is a virtual option. I'll share it when they provide the links. If you are from around the Missouri area and can meet me there, my email is loretta@uniteforsafemeds.com

I'll keep asking every day until we have just a small handful of people who will just let me know that they will not let me fight this alone.

Thank you,

Loretta Boesing, Patient Advocate
