Hi everyone!
WE NEED THOSE IN VIRGINIA TO URGENTLY CALL THEIR REPRESENTATIVES AND TELL THEM TO SUPPORT AND VOTE YES ON HB 2223. THIS WILL ALLOW PATIENTS TO HAVE OPTIONS OF WHICH PHARMACY TO USE AND ENSURE PHARMACIST ARE PAID FAIRLY. I don't want the robocalls to be the voice of patients as the Robocalls are saying how great PBMs and their forced mail-order pharmacy and limited networks are. We know the truth!
My words will not express the urgency in this as just yesterday I came across a facebook post of mother of a child whose chemotherapy medication was delayed for days due to CVS Caremark's FORCED mail-order pharmacy.
Only being able to receive coverage of our life-saving medication by mail has been devastating for many. The one delay and a child's cancer could worsen. One missed shipment, a sensitive medication could be ruined and cost a patient's life. One hot medication shipped in only a bag in the midst of the heat and the medication is at risk of losing potency which can mean a blood pressure medication could not work. If a transplant medication doesn't arrive or is lost or stolen, a transplant patient can be sent down a spiraling road of transplant rejection.
Last week on my way back from Florida's State Board of Pharmacy, I told my story to the man who sat next to me on the plane. Along the way, the gentleman in front of me turned back toward the end of the flight. He said, I just want to say thank you for what you are doing, and let you know that I have been listening in to your conversation. I'm a kidney donor, and I wouldn't want the man who is living his life after I gave him my kidney to experience the decline in health due to delays or medications not being stored properly. I was in tears. I told him thank you so much for being a donor and for saving someone's life and for caring about the issue. I believe that he was one of two organ donors/heroes that I have met face to face. I dream of meeting Wesley's donor/hero family. It was emotional. VERY emotional. The person next to me was older and he too was emotional. I will never forget that moment. having the first organ donor to look at me and say, "I support you" was so emotional.
Every supporter means more to me than you will ever know.
We have to win this and ensure patients have options to protect their medications form the MANY risks with mail-order pharmacy and that temperatures are monitored during transport.
Those of you who are calling representatives and are supporting and sharing this petition, YOU ARE HEROES.
Please share this everywhere in Virginia like it's life or death. This must pass! Virginia's HB 2223 will means life and death or suffering for many if it doesn't pass. We need this to pass across every state. Thank you for your support!
