Please watch this less than one-minute news report by WTHI-TV. The pharmacist says that he wouldn't use mail order pharmacy. Why? Temperature control is not required. He goes on to say if medications don't work, what good are they?
If you are getting medications year round in a plastic bag you are at risk in extreme temperatures as the trucks can reach 170 degrees and below zero degrees in some states during the winter.
The reporter goes on to say unnecessary adjustments are also a concern. If a medication isn't working and they change the medication or up the dosage. Then, in the months when potency isn't affected by the extreme temperatures some medications could be harmful. Also, medications are often selected by our physicians because they are the ones that would be most effective yet with the fewer side effects. If we are on a medication, and they change a medication due to the medicine not working due to potency lost during delivery, this could be dangerous.
I'm trying to warn people about the risks, but I need your help!
Please continue to share the petition & these stories. Also, discuss this issue with others. We should always have the option and coverage for receiving our medications the safest way in the hands of the pharmacist that knows us. Not the mailman.
Thanks to the pharmacist who fight for us on this issue & to the few reporters who aren't afraid of telling the stories about how mail order can and does hurt patients. Both are heroes!
Thank you to all the supporters!
