In my family, we try to keep social media light, friendly, and without insult or confrontation. Today it’s more sad and frustrating.
Back to back articles. Two separate incidents of young people (one black, one white; one male, one female) accidentally going to the wrong house and being shot… in one case, dead.
If you don’t think there’s a gun problem in this country, or you support politicians who block gun control measures, you are not paying attention. I’m tired of reading these headlines every…single…day. It’s sad - and preventable and there is something that we can do about it TOMORROW.
This Wednesday night at 7pm, the Lower Merion Board of Commissioners will vote on a new ordinance to bring historic gun sale restrictions to the township.
7pm, Township Administration Building, 2nd Floor Board room 75 East Lancaster Ave Ardmore, PA 19003
Passage of the ordinance is not certain so we need as many citizens as possible to show up at the meeting and show their support for the new ordinance, and reiterate our passion that gun reform starts at home and that increasing access to firearms in Lower Merion is a step in the wrong direction.
Please consider attending the meeting and showing your support. At present, there is mild support on the Board for the ordinance. Many commissioners outside of the Bala area are not strong supporters of the effort so we need supporters to attend the meeting and urge our commissioners in writing to pass the ordinance.
To submit public comments by zoom one must notify Jody Kelley by noon on Wed. (tomorrow) at publiccomment@lowermerion.org the proceedings can be viewed live on LMTV (comcast channel 7, Fios channel 37)as well as online at https://lmtv.viebit.com
In a nutshell, this is an important step in the right direction and a local way to get involved but your voice (or preferable, your presence at the meeting) is urgently needed to keep things moving forward. No
