10 Days Until the Final Vote: Join Our Nov 9 Town Hall & Get Your New Yard Signs!

Thank you to everyone who has signed and shared this petition! Because of your signatures, public comments, and neighborhood organizing, the Chatham County Planning Board voted 8–3 last month to recommend DENIAL of the 2026 Fearrington Preserve double-density rezoning application (Case CD-CC-2026).

Now, we enter the final 10-day stretch.

On Monday, November 16 at 6:00 PM, the Chatham County Board of Commissioners will hold the final public hearing and cast the decisive vote on whether to approve 573 to 630 homes, 6,500+ new daily car trips, 109+ acres of forest clear-cutting, and 35+ acres of private wastewater spray fields along our local school corridors and Pokeberry Creek.

With Tuesday's general election behind us, we need every petition signer to take two immediate actions this weekend to make sure the Board of Commissioners upholds the Planning Board’s 8–3 denial:

1. Join Us THIS MONDAY (Nov 9) for Our Community Town Hall—And Bring a Neighbor!

Whether you have followed this rezoning from the beginning or have friends and neighbors who are just now tuning in after Election Day, this Monday night is our most important community briefing before the final vote.

We will be joined by Special Guest District 3 County Commissioner Mike Roberson, who is attending to hear directly from parents, homeowners, and residents about growth standards, school traffic, and watershed protection.

  • WHAT: Fearrington Preserve Community Town Hall & Open Resident Q&A
  • WHEN: This Monday, November 9, 2026 | 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM (Doors open at 6:15 PM)
  • WHERE: Chatham Grove Community Center Multipurpose Room (601 Chatham Grove School Rd, Pittsboro, NC 27312)

What We Will Cover:

  • Why the Planning Board Voted 8–3 to Deny: How the developer's latest updates slashed required commercial village space by 77%, cut roadside buffers by 50% along Parker Herndon and Morris Roads, split the project into 5 disconnected pods, and deleted a promised 8.4-acre public park to make room for private sewer spray fields.
  • Open Q&A with Commissioner Mike Roberson: Share your questions and concerns directly.
  • Our Nov 16 Game Plan: How we are organizing speakers and packing the Chatham County Ag Center for the final vote on November 16.

👉 How You Can Help: Please don't come alone! Share this update or text two neighbors on your street who may not have been paying close attention prior to the election and invite them to come with you on Monday night.

2. Request Your NEW Nov 16 Yard Signs Today!

We intentionally waited until after Election Day to roll out our new wave of yard signs so our message wouldn't be competing with partisan campaign signs along our roads.

Now that the election signs are down, we want to blanket Northern Chatham County for the entire week leading up to the November 16 Board of Commissioners vote!

Our brand-new yard signs feature the updated November 16 Board of Commissioners hearing details. Help us line Andrews Store Rd, Parker Herndon Rd, Morris Rd, US 15-501, and every neighborhood entrance so our Commissioners see a united community declaring: "IT’S NOT A COMPACT COMMUNITY!"

  • Request a Set Online: Visit https://www.smartchatham.org/take-action to request a set of signs for your yard or road frontage.
  • Pick Up in Person: We will also have sets of the new yard signs ready for pickup at Monday night's Town Hall at the Chatham Grove Community Center!

📅 Mark Your Calendar for the Final Two Dates:

  1. THIS MONDAY, Nov 9 @ 6:30 PM: Community Town Hall w/ Comm. Mike Roberson — Chatham Grove Community Center Multipurpose Room (601 Chatham Grove School Rd, Pittsboro)
  2. MONDAY, Nov 16 @ 6:00 PM: Board of Commissioners Final Rezoning Vote — Chatham County Agricultural & Conference Center (1192 US-64 W Business, Pittsboro)

Let’s pack the room on Monday night and line every road in Northern Chatham all next week!
