Fearrington Preserve Tabled Until Oct. 6 — What Happened & What Comes Next

First and foremost: thank you.
Last Tuesday night, hundreds of you packed into the Chatham County Agricultural & Conference Center, wearing green, holding signs, and staying well past 11:00 PM. Thanks to your steadfast dedication, our community delivered one of the most organized, fact-driven, and compelling public hearing presentations Chatham County has seen in years.
Because of the sheer volume of critical technical evidence presented by frontline residents, soil scientists, and neighborhood leaders, the Planning Board voted to TABLE both the Conditional District Rezoning and Subdivision First Plat applications until their next meeting on Tuesday, October 6, 2026.
The public hearing is officially closed. When the board reconvenes next month, there will be no open floor comments—members will deliberate among themselves and cast their formal advisory votes to send to the Board of Commissioners.
