Stop Favoring the Wealthy Over Middle and Lower Class
The Issue
As a single mother of three grown boys, I've witnessed firsthand the struggles faced by the middle and lower class in America. When my children were younger, we had access to healthcare, childcare assistance so I could work, and a safe place to call home. Despite holding a job, I was still eligible for benefits that provided a safety net for my family. But now, even with a job, I have to choose between putting food on the table or afford minimal healthcare. Medicare and other support systems are largely out of reach for those genuinely in need, which simply isn't right.
Promised changes to 'Make America Great Again' seem to disproportionately benefit the wealthy, leaving those of us on the lower end of the financial spectrum struggling to survive. Currently, policies contributing to wealth concentration at the top are actively damaging the workforce that is the backbone of America. By slashing Medicaid, SNAP benefits, and cutting essential services, the lives of countless families are being put at risk.
America was built on the principles of equality and opportunity for all—not a select few. Data from organizations like the Brookings Institution shows that income disparity continues to grow at alarming rates, with the top 1% holding an ever-increasing share of the nation's wealth. It's time to redirect benefits and support to those who truly need it.
We need actionable changes: sustain and expand Medicaid and SNAP benefits, introduce tax reforms that equalize the playing field, and invest in services that support working families. Our government must focus on uplifting the less privileged to foster a more balanced and prosperous society.
Urge policymakers to consider the real impact of their decisions on everyday lives. Sign this petition to demand fair treatment for the middle and lower-income families in America. Let's strive for an economy that supports every citizen, not just the wealthy elite.
