The Iranian Supreme Court has upheld the death sentence against the Swedish dissident of Iranian origins Habib Farajollah Chaab. He has been held in Iran since October 2020 after he vanished during a visit to Turkey. Chaab was found guilty on charges of corruption on earth and the formation of a rebel group that was involved in an attack on a military parade in Ahwaz, a city of Khuzestan province, in which 25 people lost their lives. The ethnical groups in Iran such as Arabs, Kurds and Balouch are faced discrimination in Iran,  a charge the Islamic Republic denies.  In addition, The confirmation of Chaab's death sentence comes aimed at source relations between Iran and Sweden over a Swedish court's lifetime in prison sentence for a former official for involvement in the mass execution of political prisoners in 1988 in the Islamic Republic.  Iran claims that Chaab acknowledged that he had received help and support from the Swedish government and its intelligence service to attack the military parade in 2018.

It is our duty to defend Chaab as well as other prisoners tortured or killed as a result of Iran's retaliatory measures. Having an opinion, ethnicity or idea should not lead to someone being sentenced to death in unfair trials.
