TL;DR:
This is a win. Disney will include the disability access (DAS) proposal in its 2026 shareholder vote — something that happened because of community pressure. If you already own Disney stock, you’re likely eligible to vote. If you’re buying stock specifically to vote, sooner is better.
BREAKING NEWS
We wanted to share an important update, coming directly from our community, a shareholder who signed the petition, and the petition’s creators working together.
Disney has confirmed that a shareholder proposal, created by our community, about disability access (DAS) will be included in its 2026 shareholder vote. That means Disney shareholders will formally vote on whether the company should commission an independent review of its recent DAS changes, ensure board-level oversight, and report findings to shareholders.
This step happened because of sustained pressure from disabled guests, families, advocates, and supporters. Community voices pushed this issue out of the shadows and into Disney’s official governance process.
For the first time, concerns about DAS will be:
- Reviewed at the shareholder level
- Considered as a business, safety, and governance issue
- Put to a formal vote, rather than quietly dismissed
That alone is meaningful progress.
Who can vote
Only people who own Disney stock by a specific cutoff date (called the record date) can vote. Disney hasn’t announced that date yet, but based on past years, it’s likely to be very soon — possibly this week.
- If you already own Disney stock, you are likely eligible to vote once the cutoff is announced.
- If you’re considering buying a small amount of stock specifically to vote, the general rule is: the sooner, the better.
- We can’t guarantee eligibility yet — only Disney can — but this guidance is based on Disney’s historical timelines.
Important note
This is not financial advice. Buying stock involves financial risk, and no one should do so unless it makes sense for their personal situation. Signing and sharing the petition continues to matter and has already helped make this outcome possible.
What happens next
Disney will soon release official details about:
The voting cutoff date
How shareholders can cast their votes
We’ll share updates as soon as that information becomes public.
Thank you for being part of this!
